Curtain Up on Performing Arts School

The red curtain is up on Blue Teapot’s Performing Arts School. Based at Munster Avenue, Blue Teapot is a quality assured, sole provider in the West of Ireland to offer FETAC Level 2 & 3 accredited performing arts skills training specifically designed for school leaver adults with intellectual disabilities.

At present, a person with an intellectual disability has limited access to vocational training in traditional theatre schools in Ireland. Blue Teapot has long recognised the need for this provision to be made available

Blue Teapot’s school offers FETAC Level 2 foundation skills in drama, music, costume design, theatre craft as well as participation in events such as St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Culture Night. This course is certified as a Level 2 General Learning major award: Introduction to Performing Arts.

Our Level 3 Special Purpose Award: Foundation Performing Arts Skills commences in January 2012 with modules in drama, music, event participation, drawing and costume design. As well as learning new performance skills, the programme also promotes social and living skills.

Facilitators

Charmian Goodall (Costume Design) Nuala Ni Chanainn (Music), Sharon Lynch (Creative Theatre Crafts), Dave Donovan (Event Participation), Aine Lawless (Art) and Petal Pilley (Discovering Drama) are just some of the high calibre arts practitioners who facilitate the programmes.
