Due to an overwhelmingly successful run of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in June, Blue Teapot is going on tour.

With the support of Galway Rural Development and Galway City Partnership the company will be performing in Ballinasloe on Wednesday September 29th with a matinee 12 noon performance.

The show will take place in Ballinasloe’s Town Hall Theatre; recently taken over by Town Hall Company Ltd, a new initiative that is committed to bringing more creative projects into Ballinasloe. Blue Teapot is thrilled to be the first touring company booked in under new management.

Midsummer received rave reviews from audiences in Galway city. They said it was ‘Pure magic’, ‘Truly inspiring and enjoyable’, and a ‘brilliant performance’.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is set in Athens in Edwardian times and the fairy realm, where everyone seems to have fallen in love with the wrong person. The Teapots (Blue Teapot actors) play multiple characters in this abridged version of Shakespeare’s classic play bringing passion and heart to this beloved comedy.

Directed by Petal Pilley, this production gets to the heart of the play where misunderstandings, true love and misdirection are mingled together with a little fairy dust. Staying true to the original text this interpretation is filled with mischief.

Tickets are €10, group rates are available. To book tickets please call 091-520-977

Proudly supported by:

The Owl and the Pussycat

Concept and design by Charmian Goodall, internationally renowned costume designer (previous designer for The Rolling Stones, U2, and Pink Floyd) Blue Teapot’s entry The Owl and the Pussycat was the highlight of Galway’s St. Patrick’s Day Festival Parade. Charmian’s most famous creation, a giant black inflatable pig was last seen at Pink Floyd’s famous concert at the Berlin Wall in Germany.

Brendan Savage of Savage Productions is designing the spectacular float. Brendan was critically celebrated for his fantastic success with the Volvo Ocean’s Race’s Swan Ship; a remarkable floating stage. Based on the poem, the Owl and the Pussycat who go to sea in a beautiful pea green boat, Brendan has imagined a pea pod shaped vessel with a leaf sail for the lovers to sail away in for a year and a day.

All aspects of Blue Teapot, from Bright Soul to company members bring this poem to life. Audiences are captivated as the Owl and the Pussycat go to the place where the Bong Trees grow, to buy their wedding ring from the end of Piggy Wig’s nose, and get married by the Turkey who lives on a hill.

Then, they all dance by the light of the moon, the moon, they dance by the light of the moon.

An annual event that involves all the members of Blue Teapot Theatre Company this collaboration is a part of Blue Teapot’s history and is well beloved by parade attendees.

Drama in the Community was re-named in 2010 as Bright Soul, a theatre initiative by Blue Teapot, that was originally established in 2004.

Set up by Blue Teapot Theatre Company and the Brothers of Charity Services Bright Soul provides participants with the opportunity of being involved, on a weekly basis, in drama workshops, street theatre and productions.

Since 2004 this group has grown in skill and confidence. Their work has been showcased on Nationwide in 2007 for their Bridgit’s Day Gardens celebrations and their yearly participation in Blue Teapot’s entry of the St. Patrick’s Day Festival Parade in Galway city, winning first place in 2009.

The group’s members are given time, expertise and support by top industry professionals, enabling each individual to develop self-belief, independence, courage and confidence.

With such successful productions as It’s 10 Years, Shadows, Bealtaine Festival in Brigit’s Gardens, their involvement in the Gort Community School Integration Programme, and their continued involvement in the Galway Arts Festival, Macnas and St Patrick’s Day Parades, the group has grown in talent and self-confidence.

Bright Soul’s future looks… well you know!
